Juvenile Cases

Just like adults, juveniles can be charged with criminal offenses and must have their rights protected by an experienced and aggressive attorney.  Representing clients in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area, the Law Office of Carl David Ceder, PLLC, has the experience and skill to protect the rights of all minors charged with any criminal offense.

Juvenile crimes are classified differently than offenses charged on adults. The Texas legislature has provided for a different set of rules, laws, and procedures when dealing with accusations of juvenile criminal offenses. When a juvenile is accused of committing a crime, their case is not governed by the Texas Penal Code. Instead, juvenile cases are governed by the Texas Family Code. Regardless, however, juveniles accused of violating the law should contact an attorney to protect their rights.  Contact Carl by calling 214.702.CARL(2275) to set up a free initial consultation regarding your juvenile case.

Carl can handle all aspects of juvenile criminal law proceedings including detention hearings, trials, determinate sentencing, probation, certification hearings, and sealing of juvenile records. Carl has extensive experience representing the rights of children who have been detained for delinquent conduct and are in need of an experienced and aggressive attorney.

Under the Texas Family Code, a "child" is someone between ten and seventeen years of age. Juvenile cases do contain elements that are both "civil" and "criminal" in nature.  Unlike adult criminal cases, the Texas juvenile courts treat juvenile offenders as people who need rehabilitation, not criminal punishment. Therefore, juveniles are not "convicted" of a crime, but instead are found to have engaged in delinquent conduct.   Additionally, when a child has been arrested, he or she is not released on bail or bond. Your child will either be detained or released into the custody of a parent (or guardian).  In deciding whether to detain or release the child, the court considers several factors. Carl can help ensure that your child has the best chance of being released into your custody.

Carl can handle all cases involving children charged with criminal offenses, such as:

• Underage Alcohol Consumption or Possession

•Theft/Auto Theft

• Shoplifting

• Assault and Aggravated Assault

• Criminal Mischief

• Skipping School/Truancy

• Arson

• Gang-related Activities
